Founded Joint committee for cooperation of Koprivnica Križevci County with Podravina Croats in Hungary

At the initiative of Koprivnica Križevci County and the Croatian General Consulate of Pecs in Hungarian Martinci was held the constituing session of the Joint Committee for cooperation of Koprivnica Križevci County with Podravina Croats.

The Joint Committee is established by the decision of the County prefect Darko Koren to intensify cooperation and connectivity of Podravina Croats living in the border areas along the Drava river in Hungary, based on the regional policy of the European Union.

To the Committee are nominated representatives of 10 municipalities located in the border area of the County and along the Drava river and the representatives of the self-governments of Podravina Croats in Hungary, while the president of the Committee was appointed Deputy county prefect Pal and vice president Jozo Solga from the Office of the Croatian state self-governments. The Joint committee will work on intensifying mutual cooperation, promotion of Koprivnica Križevci County and Croatian cultural heritage, a partnership linking of units of self-governments, associations and organizations in the border area and the creation of joint projects suitable for running on the tender of the European Union, and in particular for tenders as part of Interreg V-A cooperation Programme Hungary-Croatia 2014. – 2020.

The session was opened by the Deputy county prefect Pal, and after the constitution of the Joint committee director of PORA Development agency Melita Birčić presented the current Call for proposals under Interreg V-A cooperation programme Hungary-Croatia 2014. – 2020. She added that the participation in the work of the Joint committee is an opportunity for better partnership networking and implementation of joint cross-border projects. At the session was agreed that the Croatian Consulate General in Pecs will provide assistance in finding partners while PORA will provide support in preparation and implementation of projects to partners from Koprivnica Križevci County.

Deputy county prefect Ivan Pal and Consul General Vesna Haluga presented the programme of presentation of Koprivnica Križevci County on consular area in Hungary during 2016., and invited the present to engage their institutions in the following activities: “Masterpieces of Croatian naive art”, hosting the County cultural artistic society and the event “Welcome dear guests”, Christmas concert at the Cathedral of choir “Kalnik”, restoration of customs of baptizing of grape must in Martinci, the organization of round table “Options of business in Hungary and connecting entrepreneurs” and business meeting of entrepreneurs and National Day in Pecs.

One more of the activities, Deputy county prefect Pal suggested the organization of a round table on cooperation in sports and culture at regional level with the Croats in Hungary and Vojvodina, while Consul General Haluga presented the possibility of organizing projects of a dinner with a message on which would be collected donations for education of children of Croats in Hungary. After the session, all participants visited the event ” Bučura – Annunciation of the Lord” in Martinci, known as “The Heart of Podravina”.
