INTERNATIONAL AMAZON OF EUROPE BIKING FESTIVAL – “WITH BIKE TO THE VILLAGE”

In Sunday on August 30th 2020 as part of event “Walk through naive” (“Šetnja kroz naivu”) the bike tour “With bike to the village” (“Z biciklinom na selo”) was held. Bike tour was held as part of 2nd international cycling festival “Amazon of Europe”, which is holding as activity in project Amazon of Europe Bike Trail in 12 regions in Austria, Slovenia, Hungary, Serbia and Croatia from August till October 2020.

Bike tour “With bike to the village” was held through part of route Amazon of Europe Bike Trail in Podravina from Koprivnica till Hlebine, and was organized by Tourist Board of Koprivnica Križevci County, Association Old crafts Hlebine, Association of woman Bregi and Koprivnica Križevci County, as partner in project AoE Bike Trail.

Bike tour started at Zrinski Square in Koprivnica, where organizers were sharing promo materials to citizens and participants and promoting the project as well. With the police escort, about 40 cyclists first went to Koprivnički Bregi where Association of woman held the promotion of famous Bregi pie (“Bregofska pita”), intangible cultural property of this area. Promotion of heritage of Podravina was continued in Hlebine at estate “Stari zanati” (Old crafts), where lot of artists were presenting their works made in style of Hlebine school of naive art. Cyclists were finally present at opening of exhibition of paintings of Zdravko Šabarić with bikes theme.

During the bike tours participants were adherent to epidemiology measures and recommendations issued by Civil Protection Headquarters regarding to COVID 19 pandemic.

PROJECT INFORMATION

Amazon of Europe Bike Trail project is co-funded through the Danube Transnational Programme of the European Union (ERDF and IPA funds). The project started on 1st June 2018 and lasts until the 31st May 2021. The total budget of the project is 3,176,000.00 €, divided between 15 full partners.
