AAA LEADER LAG – Role of local action groups in rural development

In Đurđevac was in Hotel Picok on September 9th and 10th held workshop within the project Leader LAG. It is the project that is cofinanced with the funds of Alps Adriatic Alliance and Koprivnica Križevci County, with the goal of cooperation between Local action groups (LAG-s) at the area of Austria, Slovenia, Hungary and Croatia. The applicant of the project was LAG Podravina with technical assistance of the County, and Section for international cooperation and EU funds.

At the area of the Alliance operate many local action groups with a goal of partnership promotion between representatives of public, civil and economy sector in rural areas. Members of LAG-s come from different areas of activities, and by that represent strong base of stakeholders and potential partners for realization of projects at different areas. Aim of this project is connecting of LAG-s in order to create preconditions for project idea development between LAG-s itself and their members, which will at the end expand cooperation and result with preparation and realization of new EU projects.

Workshop was opened with introductory speeches of vice president of LAG Podravina Mladen Mađer, Deputy County Prefect Darko Sobota and Secretary general of the Alps Adriatic Alliance Thomas Pseiner. Afterwards was held presentation of the host through presentations of town Đurđevac and the County, and presentation of Network for sustainable development which gathers LAG-s at the level of Croatia. It was held as well the presentation of Association ODRAZ about local development, after what they presented themselves the LAG-s participants of the workshop.

Second day was thematically discussed on cooperation between LAG-s and defining common project proposals, and participans were by groups planning projects from agriculture, culture and rural tourism. This two day workshop resulted with new accomplished contacts and contributed to opening new base of potential project partners in wider region, which is important precondition for later preparation of projects.

Finally were discussed all possible EU programmes at which participants of the workshop can together apply project proposals, and are agreed as well new meetings of LAG-s in order to additionally widen the cooperation.
